The NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation offers a full slate of summer camps on their properties in the Catskills and Adirondacks during the July and August school holidays. Their website will be updated soon, but much information is already available at dec.ny.gov/things-to-do/summer camps including descriptions of the four summer camp locations and the outdoor programs. Our club sponsors one to two youngsters each year ages 11-17 for one week (Sunday through Friday) as part of its conservation mission to inspire a deeper appreciation of our natural world in our community. Registration will open to families on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., and only families can sign up. The club is expected to create new sponsorship codes for each camper we send before that date. Currently we are looking for interested 2025 candidates to sponsor. If you have at home a budding naturalist who would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please email Linda Kleinhenz at conservation1@watermanbirdclub.org by Monday, March 10 to register your interest. Your family will be asked to choose their preferred camp location and select the week or two that will fit their summer vacation schedule shortly.
