Prothonotary Warbler at Dennings Point 5/9/14

Date: 5.9.2014Contributor(s): Aimee LaBarr

Location: Dennings Point

Club member Aimee LaBarr reported to eBird, “The prothonotary warbler is a short way past where the loop trail splits to the left. There is a vernal pool by the trail. The warbler likes to be low in the sticks to the left end of the pool. It was there at 1 pm and flew off. It didn’t return when called. I left it and re-checked. It returned at 2:10, same spot. It flew across the trail and stayed in a nearby tree. It was still there when I left at 2:15. Approach very slowly & quietly, because it likes to be close to the trail. When I saw the yellow, I stopped & it came closer.”

Good luck, and let us know if you locate the bird.
