Little Blue Heron – Beacon 9-6-13

Little Blue Heron update: From Tom Lake – 9/6/13-

Maybe a new one or the Wappingers  Falls bird moving southwards:

“After at least a week of looking we finally found the (an) immature Little Blue Heron at 11:00 AM today walking on the water chestnut 200 feet offshore just north of the old landfill park in Beacon during the last third of the flood tide.   There was a string of Double-crested Cormorants along the outer edge of the Trapa beds and a few Great Blue Herons interspersed along a few hundred yards of shoreline. For fully five minutes the Little Blue was frozen like a front yard ornament, until finally plunging into the water for something, which is missed.”
