Horned Grebe and Greater White-fronted Goose – Poughquag
The Horned Grebe first seen by Adrienne Popko on 1/28/14 at the “Red Wing” pond on Green Haven Road, Poughquag, was seen again 1/30/14 by several RT Waterman Bird Club members. Kateri Kosek also found a White-fronted Goose in with the Canadas
Please note that the pond is on posted, private land, but there is an area to pull in in front of a black metal gate (correction: at the Lime Ridge Rd. intersection} – the ducks can be observed standing in front of the gate. Afternoons would give the best lighting, viewing with a scope is recommended due to the distance of the waterfowl from the viewing area
