Date: 2/18/16Contributor(s): David Baxter

Location: Milton, NY (Ulster County)

The oriole coming to an Ulster County feeder and first reported to eBird on February 18th by David Baxter has been identified as a sub-adult Bullock’s Oriole.  The Baxter’s live at 223 Mulberry Lane in Milton, Ulster County and are allowing visitors who can view the feeders from the side of their house.  Per an email sent by John Burroughs Natural History Society: “Please do not enter the backyard so as not to excite their dogs but you may knock on the door and ask for a status update.  Please show respect to all the property owners on Mulberry Lane as this is a narrow road with limited parking.  A nice gesture would be to bring along a bag of birdseed or a package of suet cakes”.

The bird was observed by several members of the RT Waterman Bird Club on 2/23 when it made a brief appearance at the suet feeder.
