Date: 8.22.2014Contributor(s): Barbara Mansell

Location: Stanfordville NY

8-22-2014 – Barbara Mansell found a Lark Sparrow mid-day moving between the intersection of Salt Point Turnpike (Rt 17)/ Market *Lane*, Stanfordville and east to the round hay bales on the left side of the road travelling eastbound. It was seen usually foraging near the edge of the road, sometimes perching on the utility wires or a nearby tree.  The bird flies into the fields when spooked by fast moving cars. This location is in the Town of Stanford, north of Upton Lake.   Congrats to Barbara for an excellent find (only the 6th recorded sighting in Dutchess Co.) . The Lark Sparrow was last seen early Saturday afternoon 8.23.2014.
