The following rare birds were seen during the RT Waterman Bird Club Field Trip – “Northern Dutchess Co for Ducks” on 11/7/2015

Greater White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons) (1)
– Reported Nov 07, 2015 11:40
– Thompson Pond Preserve, Dutchess, New York
– Comments: “smaller than Canada Goose with gray brown chest and overall color more gray brown than Canada Goose.  White surrounding upper, orange bill.  Observed for over 30 minutes by many in group.  Associating closely and feeding with large flock of Canada Goose.”

Cackling Goose (Branta hutchinsii) (1)
– Reported Nov 07, 2015 14:00
– The Fly, pond on Rte 82 (Pine Plains), Dutchess, New York
– Comments: “Mallard sized goose with stubby bill mixed in with large flock of Canada Goose, seen next to both Mallard and Canada for size comparison.  Observed for 10 minutes by most in group of 13 people.”
