Field trips are held most Wednesdays and some weekends. Dress for the weather and bring lunch and beverage. All walks are open to the public free of charge. Inclement weather cancels walk. See cancellations.com for last-minute changes.

Field Trip starting times change throughout the year. In general, 8:30am for the month of April, 8:00am for May, 7:30am for June, July and August, 8:00am for September, 8:30am for October, and 9:00am for November through March. Also check this website or the newsletter for occasional changes.

September 2017

Wednesday, September 20, Nuclear Lake  Intersection of Rt.55 and Old Rt.55 in Poughquag. Meet there at 8:00am.

Wednesday, September 27, Harlem Valley Rail Trail  Coleman Station Rd. (off Rt. 22/44 north of Amenia. Meet at parking lot at 8:00am.

Saturday, September 30, Buttercup West ‘Walk and Work’ Day  We will walk from 8:00-10:00am looking for fall migrants, then do some clearing of invasive plants along the main railbed to open up views along the Wappingers Creek. Bring loppers, pruners, digging and other non-power tools, work gloves, your lunch and a camp chair. Cookies/treats and drinks provided. Chet Vincent will lead the walk. Meet at parking area on Stissing Mountain Road off Route 82, Stanfordville, at 8:00am. Wednesday, October 4, Thompson Pond  Meet there, Lake Rd., Pine Plains, at 8:30am.

Wednesday, October 11, Montgomery Place Meet there at 8:30am. Take Rt.9G north of Rhinebeck, turn left on Rt. 199 to Kingston Bridge. Turn right onto River Rd. (DC 103) to estate parking lot.      

Saturday, October 14, Vassar Farm  Leader: Carol Fredericks. Meet at the barns parking lot, turn at light by Raymond Ave. & Rt. 376, Poughkeepsie, at 8:00am.

Wednesday, October 18, Tymor Forest  Meet at the barns (off CR-21/Bruzgul Rd.) at 8:30am.  Hot dog roast after walk (optional). Bring your own.

Wednesday, October 25, Cary Institute  The 2nd of 3 in the Tree ID and Bird Walk series. Meet at the Gifford House parking lot (Rt.44, Millbrook) at 8:30am.

November 2017

Wednesday, November 1, Dutchess Rail Trail  Meet at parking lot, Titusville Rd. behind Gold’s Gym, Town of LaGrange at 9:00am.

Saturday, November 4, Northern Dutchess County for Ducks  Leader: Adrienne Popko. Please call her for time and meeting place at 264-2015 if you plan to attend.

Wednesday, November 8, Locust Grove (Samuel Morse Historic Site)  Meet there (Rt. 9, Poughkeepsie) at 9:00am.

Saturday, November 11, Southern Dutchess County for Ducks  Leader: Chet Vincent.  Meet at 9:00am at Kohl’s (Wappingers) parking lot next to Rt. 9.  Please call if you plan to attend at 452-3716.

Wednesday, November 15, FDRoosevelt National Historic Site  Meet at the new visitor center parking lot Rt. 9, Hyde Park at 9:00am.

Wednesday, November 22, Vassar College Campus  Meet at the greenhouse parking lot off Raymond Avenue, Pok., and park at the south end of lot, at 9:00am.

Wednesday, November 29, Redwing Park, Rt. 82 Billings  Meet there at 9:00am. At Billings light (Rt.55/82), go north 1/10 mile on Rt. 82, entrance across from Redwing Sand and Gravel for Red Wing Recreation Park.
