Field trips are held most Wednesdays and some weekends. Dress for the weather and bring lunch and beverage. All walks are open to the public free of charge. Inclement weather cancels walk. See cancellations.com for last-minute changes.

Field Trip starting times change throughout the year. In general, 8:30am for the month of April, 8:00am for May, 7:30am for June, July and August, 8:00am for September, 8:30am for October, and 9:00am for November through March. Also check this website or the newsletter for occasional changes.

April 2017

RESCHEDULED TO THURSDAY, APRIL 27th DUE TO RAIN.  Wednesday, April 26, Buttercup West  Meet at the parking lot off Rt.82 (Stissing Mt. Ln. and right on Stissing Mt. Rd.), Stanford, at 8:30am.

Sunday, April 30, Pawling Nature Reserve  Leaders: Carol and Ken Fredericks and FrOGS.  Meet at the Rt. 22 parking lot (north of North Quaker Hill Rd., CT 68) at 7:45am to carpool. Please call 845-452-7619 if you plan to attend.

Wednesday, May 3, Peach Hill Town of Poughkeepsie Park   Edgewood Rd., off Salt Point Tpk. Look for signs (directions on website). Meet at  8:00am. Hot Dog Roast after walk, bring your own.

Saturday, May 6, Doodletown (at Bear Mountain State Park)   Leader: Barbara Michelin. Call 297-6701 for time and meeting place.

Sunday, May 7, Cary Institute   Leader: Mike Fargione. Join the Cary Institute and the Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club for a walk on the grounds of the Cary Institute from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. This guided walk is an opportunity for beginning to advanced birders to observe and identify local birds in different habitats. The walk begins at the Gifford – Cary East parking lot and proceeds along the fields, streamsides, and forests. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED at http://www.caryinstitute.org/events. Wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring drinking water and binoculars. For more information, call (845) 677-7600 x 121. Additional walks will be held on June 4 and July 2.

Saturday,  May 13, May Census  People celebrate spring in many different ways, planting a garden, taking a trip…many of us in the bird club celebrate by participating in May Census. Wednesday, May 24, Turkey Hollow/Tamarack Preserve   Meet at clubhouse parking lot on Turkey Hollow Rd. (turn off Rt. 44, #4754 Rt.44, Millbrook – before Amenia) at 8:00am. Plan to carry lunch.

Wednesday, May 31, Thompson Pond    Meet there (off Lake Rd., Pine Plains) at 8:00am.

Sunday, June 4, Cary Institute  Leader: Mike Fargione. Join the Cary Institute and the Ralph T.
