I first knew "Newt" in 1928 when I was
finishing Eastman Business College and he was just starting.
He drove from Stanfordville to Poughkeepsie daily and I needed
transportation to my first job as secretary to the D.C. Extension
Service, 4-H Department, in Poughkeepsie. So Newt picked me and
another girl up at my house on the Salt Point Turnpike. When
he finished Eastman College my father bought me a car and we
rarely saw Newt. Then in 1958 the Bird Club organized and again
Newt and Jim and I joined, charter members.
He was a quiet, reserved, thoughtful and kind person.
Very likable, dependable, and a person you were glad to know. "See
you tomorrow" was always our farewell and so Newt, we will
be seeing you TOMORROW, God willing.
